Imakatsu Talairon

IMAKATSU’s Trairâo 90 Jr. is a downsized sound pencil that inherits the powerful appeal of the original Trairâo design in a size that is easier to handle on modern fishing grounds. It retains the original body shape, which grabs and pushes water, while being condensed into a compact 90 mm body weighing 10.5 g. A cracker-ball mechanism is built into the rear of the body, producing a distinctive sound from the hard ball to attract fish across a wide area. By fine-tuning the combination of the special bone material, body-wall thickness, and metal ball, IMAKATSU has pursued the characteristic high-pitched sound and action balance of the Trairâo even after downsizing.

Its horizontal-floating design makes it easy to control even for anglers who are not accustomed to working a rod, and a stop-and-go retrieve can produce a head-swinging action. In addition to a continuous dog-walk at a steady speed, it supports slow presentations that minimize forward travel and tabletop turns in place. As a basic approach, pause briefly after the lure lands, then retrieve it along the intended course with continuous skating action. When searching a wide area, work the lure continuously without pausing; in smaller areas, slow the pace to let the sound work.
