Imakatsu Iroller

IMAKATSU’s iRoller70 is a slow-sinking lipless minnow designed to appeal to fish through both visual and auditory stimulation. Unlike plugs with lips, which commonly produce side-to-side movement of the head or tail, it is designed to generate only a high-pitch i-roll from dead-slow to medium retrieves. In addition to the flash variation created by its natural rolling action, the wavy hair attached to the tail sways underwater, adding a lifelike presence to the slim body.

A specially shaped metal blade is mounted on the belly toward the rear of the body. When it catches the current, it swings from side to side like a pendulum, creating a body-centered rolling action and flash. As the retrieve speed increases, the blade makes contact with the side of the body to produce a clacking sound. At dead-slow speeds, the blade is less likely to make contact, creating a quieter, more natural roll. When the retrieve is paused, the lure transitions into a shimmy fall while rolling, making it suitable for fall-and-lift presentations. The basic technique is simply to retrieve it at a steady speed after casting, but counting it down after it lands allows you to adjust the swimming depth and makes it easier to keep the lure in the targeted water column.
