TEX’s COOBY Jr is a downsized model of the COOBY, a flat-sided crankbait designed for working around cover. Rather than simply making the original smaller, it was developed with an action that more readily draws strikes in muddy, shallow water. Measuring 50mm and weighing approximately 7g, its body is tuned to produce a stronger rolling action than the original model, generating a high-pitch action with an emphasis on wobble. It handles a wide range of retrieve speeds, from slow to fast, and is designed for easy control—from a steady retrieve that maintains a consistent depth to speed changes around cover and structure.
Its diving depth is approximately 1.2m when used with 12lb fluorocarbon. It is well suited to tracing the edges of cover while making contact with shallow bottoms, riprap, pilings, and other cover. In addition to the flash and water displacement produced by its flat-sided body, the coffin bill allows the lure to quickly recover its action after contacting an obstacle, making it easy to work around cover. With a silent, non-rattling design, this model is easy to deploy in small spots that are difficult to approach with the original size, as well as when targeting smaller bait.
