Fieldside Saikoro Rubber

Field Side’s Saikoro Rubber is a soft plastic bait developed by Hideaki Tabuchi with tournament use in mind. Its shape was refined through extensive on-the-water testing. The bait features a distinctive structure that combines a trapezoid body reminiscent of a die with a silicone rubber skirt. Underwater, the rubber skirt gently flares out, while the water displacement created by the body and skirt attracts fish during the retrieve. The body has a rough-textured surface designed to catch water easily, helping the bait create a stronger presence than its compact appearance suggests.

Vol. 3 measures 12 mm and is primarily designed for weightless rigs, while also accommodating drop shot, nail, and jighead rigs. Short-shank trout hooks pair well with this bait, and changing the hook insertion point to take advantage of the body shape can alter its falling posture and movement during manipulation. With lightweight rigs, it can also be used for presentations that limit forward movement. Depending on the rod action, the rubber skirt can be made to open and close, or the bait can be paused to let the rubber skirt drift naturally. Because the action changes according to the hook setup and rig, it can be adjusted to suit the target depth and the fish’s response.
