UNI Products J.G. Côté inc.’s UNI-Thread is a tying thread made from continuous polyester filaments, designed for easy attachment of lure components and shaping bodies. Its lightly bonded filament construction tends to flatten as it is wrapped, allowing you to hold materials in place while creating an even base wrap or finish. Both waxed and unwaxed versions are available. The waxed version features a proprietary wax treatment that helps prevent excess wax from accumulating inside the bobbin and provides a surface that securely holds wrapped materials.

The standard sizes are 8/0, 6/0, and 3/0: 8/0 is 72 denier, 6/0 is 136 denier, and 3/0 is 220 denier. The fine 8/0 is suited to small components and slim finishes, 6/0 is suitable for securing a wide range of sizes, and 3/0 is ideal for firmly securing larger hooks and bulky components. Available in multiple colors, it can be matched to the color of the components or deliberately used as a highly visible accent. The basic method is to create a base wrap at the starting point, then adjust the tension while wrapping and securing the materials in sequence, trimming away any excess to finish.
