Biwako Amazonstyle’s Throughslip is a handmade model developed for fishing an Alabama rig through cover. It features a unique design with blade arms positioned on the outside, allowing the wire arms to act as guards when contacting obstacles. This makes it easier to trace areas where snagging has traditionally been a concern with Alabama rigs, including tetra blocks, rock, riprap, reeds, standing timber, stumps, and weeds.

The four-arm design has no center arm, reducing water resistance across the rig while allowing it to smoothly deflect when it contacts cover. Because the outer blade arms make bottom contact first, the hook points are less likely to scrape when starting the retrieve from the bottom, and the rig can also be dragged along the bottom. The standard setup uses four 0.9–1.2 g jig heads paired with 3–4-inch worms. In addition to retrieving the rig at a consistent depth along the edges of cover, it can also be used for “bama-st,” a technique that combines shaking with a retrieve. When probing deeper water, the depth can be adjusted by adding a grenade sinker-style weight without changing the jig heads. This Alabama rig is designed for carefully searching around cover while making contact with obstacles, much like a spinnerbait.
