California Worms’ California Worm Paddle is a distinctive paddle-tail grub designed to take advantage of the flexibility and buoyancy unique to the hand-poured manufacturing process. Unlike standard straight worms and mini shakers, it features a wide paddle tail at the rear of the body that catches water during retrieves to produce an attention-grabbing action. Made from a resilient, highly buoyant plastic, it combines a soft body with a tail designed to catch water—an unmistakably California Worms design.
It is primarily suited to split-shot and Texas rigs, and can be worked with techniques that activate the paddle tail, such as dragging it along the bottom or shaking it. When used on a Texas rig, it can be pitched into cover or brush piles and retrieved while working around branches and other obstacles. Available in 3.5-inch and 4-inch sizes, it can be selected according to the size of the forage in the fishery and the desired profile.
