Bottomup Flanjer

Bottomup’s Flanjer is a jerkbait designed to combine sharp, tight-darting action with minimal forward travel and a quivering shake that emerges the instant it is paused. The side-to-side darting action is accompanied by body roll, producing changes in the body’s color tone and flashes while making it easy to keep the lure in a narrow strike zone without pulling it too close. It is intended for situations where fish have limited distance to chase a lure, such as during periods of low water temperatures, and for precisely working tight to cover.

The body features a slightly deep, flat-sided design, while the fine scale pattern moderates the flash and enhances realism. The lip is somewhat long in proportion to the body, quickly bringing the lure down to the target depth after it lands. By pushing and shedding water, it generates a darting action with limited forward travel. A low-center-of-gravity fixed weight in the belly combines quick initial movement with a shaking action on the pause, while a weight ball in the head produces a moderate rattling sound. Despite its fixed-weight design, attention has also been given to castability, making it easy to place accurately on target spots.

Measuring 100 mm and weighing 11.5 g, it is slow floating and reaches a maximum diving depth of 2.0 m when used with 12 lb line. Combine jerks with pauses to bring the lure into the target depth with just a few jerks and trigger strikes in places where the distance from the landing point to the strike zone is short, such as along cover or steeply dropping banks. It is equipped with three treble hooks to better handle instantaneous attacks, in size #7.
