Sumlures Chunk

Sum Lures’ Chunk is a plastic crankbait that inherits the shape of the handmade balsa crankbait “DUCK,” which had been produced since around 1995, while offering enhanced durability and stability across a wide range of conditions. Its distinctive buoyancy structure, featuring a voluminous rear body and a fixed weight positioned in the center section, provides a stable flight posture and long casting distance even into a headwind, without using a weight-transfer system. The lip is made of slightly thicker polycarbonate, designed with contact against cover in mind.

Its action is a moderate wobble and roll centered around the belly eye, producing a minnow-like movement while transmitting a controlled amount of resistance to the angler’s hand. The non-rattle design is also suited to tough conditions and heavily pressured situations. Its maximum diving depth is approximately 70–100 cm, and it can be retrieved from high speed down to dead slow. The basic presentation is to make a soft landing, work it like a topwater lure, and then transition to a steady retrieve. The swimming depth can be adjusted by raising or lowering the rod and varying the retrieve speed, and short twitches around specific targets are also possible while maintaining line tension. A light to medium-light action rod, 10–14 lb line, and size #8 hooks are recommended as standard. In addition to the included split ring, it can also be connected with a snap. If it swims to one side, adjust it with a true tune.
