DSTYLE’s ICHIRIN was developed from the concept of recreating with a hard lure the movement of a smelt that continues swimming by moving its tail fin even when near death—an action that previous smelt-style plugs were unable to fully reproduce. Its realistic tail-fin action attracts fish that come to inspect the lure, while rod manipulation can transition the lure into an evasive action to trigger bites. It can be used to target fish feeding on smelt and other small baitfish near the surface, with a retrieve and dying action as the primary presentations.

The 55F TSUBOMI is a 55 mm, 1.8 g floating model with a fixed eye position. It is designed for a steady retrieve and dying action that take advantage of its preset action, and the hook eye features a swivel eye to help reduce missed fish. The ICHIRIN 70F measures 70 mm and weighs 3.3 g. The front eye produces the normal action, the second eye produces a rolling action, and the third eye produces a diving position, allowing the action and diving depth to be changed by selecting the eye position. Because its nose-down posture changes depending on water temperature and line diameter, it can be fine-tuned by changing the size of the snap or split ring. The 55F TSUBOMI is equipped with #12 hooks, while the 70F uses #8 hooks; both models use #1 rings.
