Issei Shizumi Mushi

issei’s Shizumushi is an inchworm-style soft bait that combines long casting distance from its high-density material and streamlined body with three pairs of legs that make subtle movements as it falls. Despite its simple body shape, the legs create fine vibrations during the fall and retrieve, while ribs along the body are designed to catch water and make it easy to conceal the hook point.

The standard setup is to rig an offset hook from the thinner end of the body. Unweighted, it falls in a nearly horizontal position while the legs tremble subtly. By inserting a nail sinker into the thicker end of the body, it can be rigged for a backslide presentation, sliding away from the hook as it falls, allowing you to vary the fall direction and sink rate. Available sizes are 1.8 in, 2.2 in, 2.6 in, and 3.2 in. Recommended hook sizes are #2 for the 1.8 in, #1–1/0 for the 2.2 in, #2/0–4/0 for the 2.6 in, and #6/0 for the 3.2 in. Each size offers a different volume and hook fit, allowing you to choose according to the rig you plan to use and the depth you are targeting.
