RAID JAPAN’s SWITCHBAIT ANSWER is a topwater plug designed to technically entice wary fish by alternating delicate, subtle actions, rather than using a strong appeal to draw them all the way to the surface. Designed as the polar opposite of the SWITCHBAIT・SCRATCH, it features a 107.5 mm, 1/2 oz.-class body equipped with a tail propeller.

On a slow to medium retrieve, it swims with a writhing action from the surface to just below the surface, creating ripples, splashes from the tail propeller, and a crisp, rattling sound. Its moderate waking action allows it to cover a wide area in a “line” style of fishing. From its slightly tail-down floating posture, adding rod work causes it to lower its head and dive underwater, during which the propeller spins to produce spray and sound. With stronger input or a long, ripping-style stroke, it twists its body while enveloping itself in bubbles and dives to approximately 50 cm below the surface. By lightly tapping the line slack with the weight of the rod in a gentle “ton” motion, it can be made to dive in place with a bowing action. The lure is tuned so that the propeller also spins as it rises after the dive, allowing anglers to combine diving, rising, and pausing. By controlling the lure with attention to the time it spends rising, “point” and “line” presentations can be switched with delicate precision.
