Japan Parts Shop Surface Rig is designed for attaching hooks to the belly of topwater plugs, with an emphasis on easy hook replacement and a structure that minimizes hook movement when installed. Despite its simple shape, screwing it into the lure body creates an appearance reminiscent of old lures, differing from the conventional method of fixing the hook directly to the body. Its configuration is well suited for making handmade lures and repairing or modifying existing plugs.

The Surface Rig comes with tapping screws for installation. Available specifications include brass and stainless steel, allowing you to choose based on the material. To use it, determine the mounting position on the lure’s belly, drill a pilot hole, secure the rig with the tapping screw, and then set the hook in the rig’s eye. Since the hook can be replaced without removing the rig itself, it is easy to change the hook type or condition. No. 2 is made of brass, while No. 3 is made of stainless steel; both are designed for installation on the belly of surface-style plugs. Depending on the material and thickness of the lure being fitted, as well as the hook size, check the screw’s holding power and ensure there is no interference before use.
