Ryugi Tantrum Control

RYUGI’s TANTRUM CONTROL is a hook designed with an emphasis on strength and penetration performance to pull fish out of heavy cover while maintaining control throughout the fight. Built for the powerful impacts of close-quarters battles with PE line, it features a robust shank configuration and applies the spring-back theory developed through RYUGI’s Pierce Hook. This design increases resistance to hook deformation and enables the hook to withstand powerful hook-setting force.

Its most distinctive feature is the deliberately obtuse hook point, rather than the sharp-angled point used on conventional hooks. To reduce the risk of the point deforming or breaking under powerful hook sets, the hook is finished with a special surface coating called “TC Coat,” which improves the point’s ability to slide smoothly during penetration and compensates for the reduced penetration associated with the obtuse point. This model is intended for worm fishing around heavy cover, where hooked fish are pulled away from the cover. It is available in sizes 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0, allowing you to choose according to the worm and its overall bulk. It is suited to setups combining a strong line system with power tackle, enabling aggressive hook sets that take full advantage of the hook’s strength.
