NISHINE LURE WORKS’ BQ Otama is a surface-running wake bait developed with bullfrog tadpoles as its inspiration. Measuring 87 mm in length and weighing 8.3 g, it features a unique construction that combines a hard body with an elastomer soft tail. As the hard body and soft tail move in sync, the lure swims across the surface with a wriggling action reminiscent of a tadpole during the retrieve. The soft tail is removable, and a replacement spare tail is included.
The lure is equipped with Ichikawa Kamakiri Double #5 hooks selected specifically for the BQ Otama. Its double-hook configuration is designed to help reduce damage when a fish inhales the lure and provides a setup that is easy to use around cover. The basic retrieve is to let the lure float on the surface and slowly wind it at a steady speed, pulling it across the topwater while the tail sways. According to the official specifications, a #0+ snap and an original blade are included, adding blade flash and appeal to the tadpole-shaped profile and swimming action.
