Luhr-Jensen’s Hot Shot is a non-rattling diving crankbait designed with a compact body and a deep-diving planning lip to produce a strong action while maintaining a consistent running depth. It is a floating model that dives deeper as the line is pulled by the lip and rises when stopped, using current and the water pressure generated by the retrieve to reach its running depth on its own. It produces a tight, wide action, and when trolling or back-trolling, maintaining steady tension makes it easier to run the lure near the bottom or through slack-water seams in the current.

5433-050 corresponds to No. 50, while 5433-070 corresponds to No. 70. According to the official specifications, the recommended running depth is 5–8 feet for No. 50 and 3–5 feet for No. 70. No. 50 can be used to target deeper water, while No. 70 is suited to shallower depths. When using the lure, attaching it via the included round Duo-Lock snap rather than tying directly to the screw eye at the front of the lure helps maintain its designed action. If the lure veers to either side while swimming, adjust the screw eye gradually to improve tracking. The lure is equipped with round-bend treble hooks, and when replacing them, it is recommended to choose a specification that does not compromise the lure’s balance and action.
