Ruher Jensen Speed Trap

Luhr-Jensen’s SPEED TRAP is a floating crankbait designed to efficiently cover shallow to mid-depth water. Its injection-molded, thin-walled body combines the action and vibration associated with wooden lures with the durability and molding precision of a resin body. The clear lip and balanced design help it maintain its posture from low to high retrieve speeds, with the ability to continue tracking straight even when retrieved quickly.

Its wide lip and moderately proportioned body make it easy to work through woody cover, rocks, and riprap areas. When it contacts an obstacle, it can also be paused to float over and avoid the cover. The lineup includes the larger SPEED TRAP and the smaller BABY SPEED TRAP. The larger model is suited to depths of approximately 3–10 feet, while the smaller model covers approximately 2–6 feet. Holding the rod high keeps the lure in shallower water, while gradually lowering the rod allows it to reach deeper, making it suitable for bottom contouring. Along weedlines, the basic approach is to cast parallel to the edge and quickly pull the lure free when it contacts vegetation. From rapidly searching shallow water to deflecting off the bottom or cover and floating up, the 1/8 oz and 1/4 oz class sizes allow you to adjust the running depth and action to suit the situation.
