Rapala’s Mini Fat Rap is a shallow-running crankbait designed as a smaller version of the Fat Rap, with a tight swimming action that imitates the movement of fleeing baitfish. It features a compact balsa wood body and a sinking design that makes it easy to adjust the running depth. The MFR-3 measures 3 cm in body length, weighs 4 g, and has a running depth of 0.9–1.8 m. Despite its compact body, it swims with a tight action, making it suitable for efficiently covering shallow water.
Each lure is hand-tuned and tank-tested before shipment, ensuring a stable swimming action straight out of the box. As a sinking model, its running depth can be adjusted not only during the retrieve, but also by varying the retrieve speed and pause duration. It is equipped with VMC black nickel hooks, with the MFR-3 featuring two No. 12 hooks. It can be used with a compact crankbait when covering shallow areas or when baitfish are small, taking advantage of its tight action and the distinctive responsiveness of a balsa body.
