Rapala Countdown

Rapala’s CountDown is a balsa-wood sinking minnow designed to make it easy to target a consistent depth using its uniform sinking rate. After casting, simply count for the desired number of seconds before beginning your retrieve to adjust the target depth from the surface to midwater and near the bottom.

The natural balsa-wood body is lightweight and buoyant, while providing the material properties needed to produce Rapala’s signature swimming action. During the retrieve, it swims with a slow, rolling action and is suitable for both casting and trolling. Its stable sinking posture also allows you to impart action while it is falling. Each lure is hand-tuned and tank-tested before shipping, and comes standard with VMC black nickel hooks. The CD3 measures 3 cm and weighs 4 g, with a running depth of 0.6–0.9 m, and is equipped with two No. 12 hooks. The CD5 measures 5 cm and weighs 5 g, with a running depth of 0.9–1.8 m, and is equipped with two No. 10 hooks. In addition to the basic technique of starting the retrieve after a consistent countdown, they can be used with a steady retrieve or for trolling while working through different depths.
