Rapala Shad Rap

Rapala’s Shad Rap is a shad plug designed around a natural balsa wood body and diving lip. It quickly reaches depth as soon as the retrieve begins, producing a natural swimming action reminiscent of an injured baitfish. It offers the lively response and buoyancy characteristic of balsa wood, maintaining a stable action from slow to fast retrieves. Each lure is hand-tuned and tank-tested before shipment and comes standard with VMC black nickel treble hooks.

The lineup includes the SR4, SR5, SR6, SR7, SR8, and SR9, with diving depth and weight varying according to body size. The SR4 measures 4 cm and weighs 4 g, with a diving depth of 1.2–2.1 m; the SR5 measures 5 cm and weighs 6 g, with a diving depth of 1.2–2.7 m; the SR6 measures 6 cm and weighs 7 g, with a diving depth of 1.5–3.0 m; the SR7 measures 7 cm and weighs 8 g, with a diving depth of 1.5–3.3 m; the SR8 measures 8 cm and weighs 11 g, with a diving depth of 2.4–4.5 m; and the SR9 measures 9 cm and weighs 15 g, with a diving depth of 2.4–4.5 m. It is primarily designed for a steady retrieve, while also responding to twitches and jerks, and can be used for both casting and trolling. Note that the SSR5, SSR7, and SSR9 Shallow Shad Rap models, despite belonging to the same Shad Rap family, are separate models designed for targeting shallower water. Their offset lips set them up for shallow diving depths of approximately 0.9–1.8 m, among other ranges.
