Rapala’s DT® (Dives-To) Series is a line of crankbaits developed to reach the target depth quickly and stay in the desired range longer during the retrieve. The bodies are made from selected balsa wood and combine a tapered body shape, strategically positioned internal weights, and a thin tail. The ultra-thin polycarbonate lip grabs the water for a fast descent, while the forward-leaning, quick-diving posture after entering the water helps the lure reach its target depth.
The lures swim with the tight side-to-side wobble characteristic of a balsa body. When the lip contacts the bottom or cover, they can also be manipulated to rise and deflect around the cover. Each lure is equipped with a Baritone rattle and has positive buoyancy, allowing anglers to do more than simply maintain a steady retrieve: they can pause when the lure contacts an obstacle or impart a light movement to create a pause. The basic approach is to cast long distances to cover a wide area, then adjust the retrieve speed or pause when contact with rocks, wood, or vegetation is felt during the retrieve. The number in each model name indicates the approximate maximum diving depth: DT-4, DT-6, DT-10, DT-14, and DT-16 correspond to 4, 6, 10, 14, and 16 feet, respectively. The DT-4 and DT-6 have 2-inch bodies, the DT-10 has a 2-1/4-inch body, and the DT-14 and DT-16 have 2-3/4-inch bodies. Hook sizes also vary by model. All models are fitted with VMC black nickel hooks as standard, with a SureSet hook on the tail.
