Megabass’s IxI BLOWLY is a shallow-running crankbait developed to target super-shallow water with a high-pitch action. The IxI brand’s design philosophy incorporates the hydrodynamics (PAT.P) established by Yukihiro Ito with the FURIOUS. Featuring a 49 mm, 3/8 oz fat body, it is a buoyant floating model.
Its key features are the unique body format with an enlarged frontal projection area and a water-through structure that channels water through the body. Water drawn in through the intake at the head is pressurized internally to increase flow speed, promoting a high-pitch action and stable tracking. During high-speed retrieves, water is also discharged downward through two water ducts beneath the gills, generating lift in the upward direction to help suppress diving. With a maximum diving depth of 0.5 m, it is designed to maintain a consistent shallow running range even when retrieved quickly.
It can be used with a standard steady retrieve and handles a wide range of speeds, from normal to high-speed retrieves. In addition to running it just beneath the surface along the bank or across open water, the manufacturer’s official usage examples also include a shaking retrieve while visually tracking the lure 10–30 cm below the surface. With its high-frequency action and stable depth control, this model is well suited for enticing bass just beneath the surface when they will not commit to a topwater presentation.
