Megabass Popmax

Megabass’s POPMAX is designed as a surface-churning lure that responds to even the slightest rod movement despite its large body. Rather than reusing the conventional POPX mold, it features Yukihiro Ito’s hand-carved body and unique hydromechanics. The I.T.O Water Chamber System draws water in through six water intakes, channels it into the internal water chamber, and expels it through ducts on both sides. Changes in water pressure inside the chamber and the discharge of water through the ducts function like a lip, producing a dynamic rolling dog-walk action with light rod manipulation.

The Spine Rib, which promotes a high center of gravity, and the MAX Center-of-Gravity Setting System, which supports the internal weight at the body core, generate an action that makes the body roll dramatically during the dog-walk. The Spine Rib is designed to withstand the impact of casting and also contributes to maintaining the rigidity of the body. When rod movement is stopped, the rear balancer raises the head and transitions the lure into a floating posture. After a pause, a light twitch produces a popper-like splash, while a straight retrieve with the lure submerged creates a crankbait-like wobbling action as water flows through the intakes, chamber, and ducts. Measuring 78 mm and weighing 1/2 oz, it is fitted with #4 hooks at both the front and rear, with a teaser hook attached to the rear.
