The tapered shape is designed to slip easily over bottom contours and through cover, while the edges on the sides of the sinker are more likely to contact the bottom when the rig is dragged. This makes it easier to detect changes in bottom composition and to work the soft bait while keeping the sinker in one spot. It is suited for use in a Carolina rig to search precise areas while dragging along the bottom, and is also effective when you want to deliver the soft bait to a targeted position in situations where the sinker tends to move too much.
