HMKL Alive Bait

HMKL’s ALIVE BAIT is a jointed minnow that connects multiple body sections and combines them with a silicone tail to produce a smooth, lifelike swimming action. The standard-size ALIVE BAIT (F), ALIVE BAIT SP, and ALIVE BAIT S feature five connected body sections, with separate buoyancy settings for floating, suspending, and sinking models. By adjusting factors such as the snap size, the ALIVE BAIT SP can be tuned from suspending closer to a super-slow-sinking action. The head features two line ties: the nose tie is used for depth control, while the tie on the head side is used to maintain depth with less tendency to rise.

The lure should generally always be operated via a snap; the manufacturer advises that tying the line directly to a line tie will impair its action. On a steady retrieve, it swims smoothly from slow to fast speeds, while adding twitches or pauses produces a curving action that entices fish. The tail is secured with a screw and can be replaced using a Phillips screwdriver. The ALIVE BAIT 85 SP and ALIVE BAIT 65 SP are compact models with three connected body sections, a suspending specification, and a lipless design. In addition to producing a natural presentation with twitches and jerks, they maintain their swimming action even during ultra-fast retrieves, while the swivel hook hanger system helps the hooks follow the lure’s movement. Because the number of connected sections, size, buoyancy, and hook system vary by model, anglers can choose according to the target depth and presentation style.
