HMKL Jordan

HMKL’s HMKL Jordan is a lipless minnow developed with an emphasis on a silhouette resembling a smelt and a natural presentation while drifting just beneath the surface. It is based on a lipless tune of the K-I MINNOW 65 SP. Through repeated testing, the rear hook was removed and fly-material tinsel was added to the tail. Its floating configuration creates a nose-down posture, while the quiet presence characteristic of the K-I body is designed to trigger bites even from fish that follow the lure slowly.

The basic presentation centers on casting the lure, allowing it to float on the surface, and leaving it motionless for a set period—the “do-nothing” technique—before transitioning to a slow, steady retrieve. It can also be lightly twitched with the rod to make it walk the dog underwater, then allowed to rise and rest again. The standard Jordan 65 is a 6.5 cm, 3.0 g floating model. The derivative Jordan 50 has been made more compact and features a weight ball in the rear to stabilize its flight posture during casting. In addition, the Super Jordan 53 and 68 use a two-hook configuration with belly and tail hooks, a swivel hook-hanger system, and high-hardness fine-wire hooks with inward-facing points. The 68 is 3 mm longer than the conventional 65-size model, with casting distance also taken into consideration.
