Berkeley Pulse Shad

Berkley’s Pulse Shad 2.6-inch is a downsized bait developed primarily for drop-shot presentations, combining a small profile with powerful water displacement to attract fish over a wide area with sharp, side-to-side movements. Its bite-sized body is paired with a thick tail, while the pulse-shaped ribs grip the water to generate strong water displacement and vibration from its compact profile.

The body features an inverted-triangular core design that helps reduce rolling when the thick tail pushes water, making it easier to maintain a horizontal posture. The concave hook slots on the back and belly allow the body to bend more easily when setting the hook, while the convex slot on the back is designed to conceal the hook point. This makes it easier to reduce snags when probing around cover with the hook rigged in a slightly offset position.

The standard rig is a drop-shot, with the manufacturer recommending a #2 or #3 hook, a weight of 2.2 g or more, and a leader length of 15–25 cm. In addition to imparting fine, side-to-side movements to the rig, it is also presented in combination with a DEX Small Rubber Jig. This 2.6-inch shad-style soft bait combines the water displacement of its thick tail, a core body designed to help stabilize its posture, and hook slots that accommodate different hook setups.
