Deps Sliding Jig

Deps’ SLIDING JIG is a rubber jig developed to reproduce the sideways-sliding movement of crustaceans and goby-type baitfish retreating into cover around the bottom and structure. It features a wide, boat-bottom-shaped head and an eye positioned above the front of the head. On hard bottoms, the jig tilts to either side upon contact with the bottom, generating a sliding action that follows changes in the terrain. It also responds sensitively to shaking, producing an irregular darting action from its side-tilting posture. On muddy or sandy bottoms, it settles as though cutting into the bottom and can also create an action in which its lip-shaped front face stirs up the bottom material.

When the wide head contacts cover such as rocks, its design helps prevent the eye from entering gaps or the head from wedging into the structure, making it easier to avoid snags. It remains stable on soft bottoms and is also designed to provide snag resistance when working through and out of reeds and bushes. The hook is relatively slim for a jig with a weed guard, with hooking performance taken into consideration, and is suited to short bites in deep water. A trailer-holding wire helps prevent the trailer from slipping out of position during presentations that involve frequent skipping. Head weights are available in 1/4 oz, 3/8 oz, and 1/2 oz, with skirt options in fine rubber and silicone.
