The TIEMCO Soft Shell Cicada is a topwater lure designed to imitate a cicada falling onto the water and moving across the surface, using a highly buoyant soft foam material. The soft body helps reduce the sound of the body and hooks coming into contact during landing and action, allowing for a quiet presentation distinct from that of hard plugs. Buoyancy inside the body keeps it floating on the surface, while the soft material is designed to reduce the unnatural sensation felt by fish when they take the lure.
During the cast, the wings fold along the body to reduce air resistance, then open upon landing to catch the water’s surface. With rod manipulation, it can be worked with light twitches or shakes to make the wings flutter while producing a head-shaking action, or moved across the surface with a slow retrieve and intermittent pauses. In flowing water, it can also be allowed to drift naturally without applying excessive line tension.
