Smithwick’s DEVIL’S HORSE is a classic double propeller bait featuring a handmade wood body and two propellers, designed to create the disturbance and spray of a baitfish fleeing across the surface. Its horizontal balance, made possible by the buoyancy of the wooden body, allows it to float and target fish in the topwater zone.

It can be worked in a variety of ways, from continuous jerks to slow retrieves, churning the surface as the front and rear propellers rotate in response to rod action and retrieve speed. The AF100 features a slim body fitted with pointed propellers. It measures 4-1/2 inches (11.4 cm), weighs 3/8 oz (10.5 g), and is equipped with size #5 hooks. The AF200 also measures 4-1/2 inches (11.4 cm), but weighs 1/2 oz (12.0 g) and differs from the AF100 in body specifications, propellers, and hook size.

Its buoyancy and horizontal posture allow for varied presentations, from working the propellers in place immediately after the lure lands to a continuous, enticing retrieve. When replacing the hooks, use the model-specific setup as a guide: size #5 for the AF100 and size #3 for the AF200.
