Smithwick Rogue

Smithwick’s Rattlin’ Rogue is a minnow designed to swim with a stable posture immediately after the cast and suspend in a nearly horizontal position when the line is paused. It is known for swimming straight right out of the box and for making it easy to achieve a suspending action without additional weight adjustments. The sound produced by the internal rattle, combined with a side-to-side action and rolling motion reminiscent of an injured baitfish, creates flash even over a short distance.

The Suspending Rattlin’ Rogue ASDRB1200 is the standard 4.5-inch model, configured with a short lip for working relatively shallow depths. The Suspending Rattlin’ Rogue ASDRC1200 features a larger 5.5-inch body, combining a larger profile with the rolling action characteristic of the Rogue series. The Deep Suspending Rattlin’ Rogue ASSRB1200 has a 6-inch body and is designed to reach a diving depth of approximately 10 feet. The Perfect 10 Rogue ADR5 is a deep-diving model that quickly reaches deeper water and can cover depths beyond 10 feet, featuring a pronounced side-to-side “Rogue Roll” and an erratic action.

Basic operation involves more than a simple retrieve: use rod work to move the lure with jerks and twitches, then take advantage of its suspending posture when the movement is paused. The models can be selected according to body size and diving depth: the ASDRB1200 for quickly covering shallow water, the ASDRC1200 when a larger profile is desired, and the ASSRB1200 or ADR5 for targeting deeper water. Hook sizes vary by model; the ASDRB1200 is typically equipped with #6 hooks, while the ASSRB1200 and ADR5 use #4 hooks.
