Smithwick’s Original Rogue is a long-lip minnow designed to target bass suspending in deep water during winter. The core model is the “Deep Suspending Rattlin’ Rogue,” which combines the standard Rattlin’ Rogue body with a longer lip for easier access to deeper water. The representative ASSRB1200 measures 6 inches in length, weighs 3/8 ounce, and is equipped with #4 hooks. It dives to approximately 10 feet when cast and 10–18 feet when trolled.
The basic retrieve is “twitch-twitch-pause,” with two twitches followed by a pause. Its suspending performance allows you to create pauses and trigger strikes while the lure remains suspended. A steady retrieve produces a subtle, minnow-like swimming action, and the lure is also suitable for trolling. Featuring a rattle-generated sound and a rolling action that imitates an injured baitfish, it is well suited for efficiently covering deep water.
