SMITH’s AR-W Curly soft bait was developed from Hiroyuki Motoyama’s concept that “if a lure has proven highly effective for smallmouth bass, it can also perform well for largemouth bass.” It retains the flattened, ring-ribbed body design praised in the AR-W Pintail. The relatively deep ribs catch water and create water displacement, while also helping the bait stay in place and providing a natural feel when a fish bites. The two curly tails extending from the body are different lengths, creating different startup speeds and varying levels of waving action. By producing multiple actions simultaneously, the angler can use rod work to vary the presentation from low-impact to high-impact, as well as adjust the strength of the attraction.

The material contains salt and shrimp-based flavoring and is suitable for use with jig heads, finesse rubber jig trailers, jig-head wacky rigs, neko rigs, drop-shot rigs, Carolina rigs, and more. Because the two curly tails produce different movements depending on the retrieve and rigging, this versatile model can be used for everything from covering water at a consistent depth to holding the rig in place and enticing fish with subtle movements. Available in a 2.75-inch size.
