SMITH’s BANDO CRAW is a swimming craw designed to keep the lure itself moving and attracting fish during the fall, retrieve, and even while it rests on the bottom. After testing the arm shape and how it catches water, SMITH adopted a design that produces action even with a light sinker. It is intended to accommodate a wider range of sinker weights and retrieve speeds while generating multiple movements even when the angler momentarily stops imparting action.
The buzz-tail-style curly arms produce strong water displacement and an aggressive action. Their thin construction and holes in the tails allow them to function with lightweight rigs in the 2.7 g class and during dead-slow retrieves. The holes also reduce resistance, making it easier to retrieve the lure from deeper water. The thick-based curly feelers undulate even during dead-slow retrieves, while their design minimizes interference between the left and right feelers. Ring ribs on the underside retain air bubbles, while the side legs on both sides sway in response to changes in water flow, creating a crustacean-like silhouette. The lure is made from a high-density, salt-infused material with a fish-and-shellfish formula. The standard hook size is #2/0, with a recommended sinker weight of 2.7–8.8 g. It is primarily designed for Texas rigs and is also suitable as a trailer for heavy Carolina rigs and rubber jigs.
