Smith Hatley''s Special

Smith’s Hooteries Special is a series of topwater pencils built around the basic pencil-bait action known as “walking the dog.” Each model is designed to produce a distinct action through differences in body shape and material, weight, and center of gravity. The series offers a variety of surface movements and turns from model to model, allowing anglers to enjoy each lure’s unique response to rod manipulation.

The flagship model, The Sheep, has a stocky body reminiscent of a sheep covered in wool, yet is designed to produce crisp, short slides. The Horse, on the other hand, readily grips the water and is characterized by a light, lively sliding action with wide side-to-side movement. The Monkey transitions from a smooth start into a slide, then produces a medium slide that appears to brake partway through. The lineup includes models with different motifs and body designs, such as The Sheep 2015, The Sheep Female, The Dog Female, The Dragon 2012, The Rooster 2017, Pluto Woman, and Jupiter Woman.
