JACKALL’s DRIFT CRAB is a soft bait developed with a focus on crabs as a crustacean forage species distinct from shrimp and crawfish. Inspired by a tuning method that involves cutting and gluing the RV DRIFT CRAW, it features a flattened, crab-like body and symmetrical arm parts on both sides. The arms receive and redirect water flow as they move in complex patterns, generating subtle vibrations. They also function as balancers during the fall, while the concave area on the underside of the body catches just the right amount of water, allowing the bait to sink slowly while maintaining a horizontal posture. On the bottom, the legs gently quiver even in minimal current, creating a noticeable presence between the fall and the pause.

The DRIFT CRAB is compatible with a variety of rigs, including weightless, wacky, and offset-hook setups, as well as weighted hooks, Texas rigs, free rigs, and leaderless drop-shot rigs. For a weightless wacky rig, set a small hook through the center of the body. When presenting the bait slowly around cover, rig an offset hook from either side. With a free rig, the resistance of the flattened body and arms makes it easy to utilize a horizontal fall in deeper water. After the bait reaches the bottom, the basic presentation is a slow drag while maintaining contact with the bottom, adding lift-and-fall movements around cover or areas with changes in bottom structure. When you want to work the bait into cover, a leaderless drop-shot rig, in which the sinker enters first, is another option.
