JACKALL’s DB UMA KASUMI is a soft bait designed around the smelt pattern, pursuing a lifelike appearance through subtle, life-like vibrations and a slender silhouette. The two pairs of scissor arms inherited from the Scissor Comb catch water and generate delicate vibrations accompanied by a rolling action. These transmit the body’s vibrations and rolling action to the thin, oversized leech tail set in a vertical position, producing a natural action that carries all the way to the tip of the tail. The body is made from a salt-free material to create the translucent appearance associated with smelt.

The basic setup is a jighead rig. Pairing it with a jighead weighing 0.9 g or more makes it easier to produce subtle vibrations that shake the body not only during the retrieve but also while falling. During a particularly effective curved fall, the scissor arms catch water and are designed to make the entire body vibrate finely. In addition to a jighead, it is also compatible with a drop-shot rig. The 3.3-inch model can be rigged as a standard setup with a 0.6–2.7 g jighead, a #2–#3 offset hook, or a #4–#6 mass-barbed hook. By varying the color and rig, it can handle everything from midwater presentations targeting smelt to bottom techniques aimed at shrimp- and goby-style prey.
