Cotton Cordell Big O

Cotton Cordell’s Big O is a short-lip, square-lip crankbait designed based on the balsa crankbait created by Fred Young in 1967. Its short, wide lip is designed to deflect the lure outward when it contacts cover, allowing anglers to work it around cover while attracting fish with its distinctive action. Known as a historic original model, it is still available in sizes such as the C77 and C78.

The C77 measures 2 1/4 inches in length, weighs 1/3 ounce, and dives to approximately 3–5 feet. Its compact body produces a distinctive pumping action, and its size is suited to a wide range of casting distances, from short casts to long casts. The C78 is the larger version, measuring 3 inches in length, weighing 3/8 ounce, and diving to approximately 4–6 feet. Both models are designed to be retrieved with the lip digging into the water; when the lure contacts cover, anglers can either continue winding or pause briefly to allow the lure to work free. The C77 is fitted with No. 6 hooks, while the C78 uses No. 4 hooks.
