Gary Yamamoto Scope Shad

Gary Yamamoto’s Scope Shad is a soft bait developed to present a natural minnow-shaped silhouette to fish identified with forward-facing sonar. Its baitfish-inspired body tapers into a small forked tail, producing a subtle action with a fine tail quiver. It is designed for delicate presentations that allow anglers to entice fish while watching them on-screen, without moving the lure too aggressively when it is close to the fish.

The front of the body features a flat head shape, designed for vertical presentations with a jighead and for use with an underspin. It incorporates Yamamoto’s proprietary Mega Floater Formula, which, depending on the rigging method, helps keep the lure horizontal and makes it suitable for targeting suspended fish and for drop-shot presentations. The basic approach is to deliver the lure to the depth where the fish are holding with a jighead, then slowly move it or pause it while monitoring its position on the sonar screen. In addition to the 3-inch model, the lineup also includes the FECO-certified Eco 3 Scope Shad.
