Gary YAMAMOTO’s Stretch-40 combines the tail action of a single-tail grub with the presence of a 6-inch-long body. The body features the ribs common to Gary Yamamoto grubs, while its substantial thickness provides ample weight. It is also suited to long-cast presentations for targeting offshore spots and covering large areas.

The single-tail grub’s curly tail moves underwater in response to retrieves, falls, and rod movements, generating vibration when the body is swum. Taking advantage of its longer-than-standard grub body, it can be used not only for swimming on its own, but also with Texas rigs, jigheads, Carolina rigs, and other presentations. When rigged as a jig trailer, the tail action allows you to cover the water column from mid-depths to the bottom. Around cover, it can be rigged Texas-style with the hook point aligned along the body, while in open water, the hook point can be exposed, allowing the setup to be adjusted to suit the conditions. This grub-style model adds volume while retaining the handling characteristics of a grub by combining a longer body with a subtle single tail.
