Gary Yamamoto Grub

Gary Yamamoto’s GRUB features a single-tail grub design and offers versatile rigging options for jig heads, various light rigs, and jig trailers. The 2″ GRUB is a compact size suited to jighead rigs, drop-shot rigs, and jig trailers. In addition to largemouth bass, its size is well suited to targeting pressured smallmouth bass in Lake Nojiri and Lake Hibara, as well as small saltwater species and bluegill.

The 3″ GRUB is primarily suited to jighead rigs, light Carolina rigs, and jig trailers, and can also be swum on a 1/16 oz jig head. The tail can be cut off for use as an Ika Grub, or the Ika Grub can be paired with a Carolina rig and worked with a combination of curved falls, free falls after the sinker reaches the bottom, and pauses. The tail can also be cut off to create a Cut Tail-style weightless rig, or rubber strands can be inserted into the body and the lure allowed to fall as an Ika Rubber. These different setups enable a variety of presentations. The 2-inch model is characterized by its compact rigging options, while the 3-inch model offers versatility, including shape modifications by cutting the lure.
