Caltiva Jig Head

C'ultiva’s Kuromame Head (JH-25) is a jig head designed to maintain a stable position on the bottom with its football-shaped head. The wide, rugby-ball-like head is less likely to tip over when it contacts the bottom, providing a level of bottom stability distinct from that of a round head. By helping the hook remain in an upright position, it can also help reduce snags, although it cannot prevent the head from becoming lodged between rocks or other obstacles.

The hook features a straight point and regular wire. Because the point is easy to keep upright, it is well suited to achieving an early hookup and can also be used for reaction-style fishing with a football jig. It is suitable for bottom lift-and-fall retrieves, bottom pumping, and dragging, as well as midwater swimming that takes advantage of the head shape. The rear of the head features a grooved slit that makes it easy to tie on rubber or silicone skirts, allowing it to be used not only with soft plastics but also as a base for custom rubber jigs.

The 1/8 oz and 3/16 oz models feature a #1 hook, the 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz models feature a #1/0 hook, and the 1/2 oz model features a #2/0 hook. Select the weight according to the soft plastic being used, the target depth, and the bottom conditions.
