OSP’s DORAN 127F is a hybrid lure that combines the drawing power of a hard bait with the natural action and softness of a soft bait, allowing its configuration to be modified on the water. It comes in a floating configuration as standard. With the snap attached to the line eye at the nose, it can be used for dead-sticking and dead-slow retrieves on the surface, as well as an I-shaped retrieve and a steady retrieve. Moving the snap to the side eye on the body produces a surface-level side-to-side action, in which the entire flattened body catches and releases water. It is also suited to swimming along the edges of floating cover, rock faces, and seawalls, with the head rubbing against the structure.

The included sinker can be installed in the weight hole at the base of the lip, changing the lure to a slow-sinking model with 2 g or a fast-sinking model with 3.5 g. The slow-sinking configuration expands the range of presentations, including a flashing action on a fast stop-and-go retrieve and a side-to-side action in the mid-water column, while the fast-sinking configuration can be used for bottom dead-sticking. The rear body is designed to fold inward and be inhaled during a bite, reducing the difficulty of inhalation often associated with bluegill-style hard lures. When fishing on the bottom, the instructions also suggest removing the belly treble hook and attaching an approximately size #4 treble hook to the side eye.
