OSP Orikanemushi

O.S.P.’s Orikanemushi II is a buoyant insect-style soft lure developed with a silhouette that resembles not only a specific insect, but a variety of insects as well as frogs and crustaceans. Its rear-weighted body stabilizes the lure’s posture during casting and makes it easier to send through branches and foliage when using a hanging presentation. The body is made from elastomer material to provide buoyancy and durability.

The relatively large antennae push water, while the three-dimensional legs arranged in three pairs along the sides generate subtle vibrations. By narrowing the rear waist section, the front and rear portions move independently, producing different vibrations from each other. On the surface, it creates an action resembling a struggling, drowning insect, while the legs and antennae continue to generate ripples even when the lure is left stationary. Primary presentations include hanging the lure, leaving it motionless on the surface, and enticing fish with a light shake. Rig it with an offset hook and cast it toward cover or shade, where it can also be worked out with a head-shaking retrieve. Adding a sinker makes it possible to send the lure underwater on the fall while taking advantage of the elastomer material’s buoyancy.
