Evergreen Antlion

Evergreen’s Antlion is a compact soft bait developed as a rubber jig trailer under the direction of professional angler Toshifumi Kikimoto. Rather than simply downsizing the bait, its fat body, with weight positioned toward the rear, and salt-infused material stabilize its posture during casting, delivering surprising ease of casting and distance for such a compact bait. The ringed body readily grips the water and maintains a stable posture on the bottom.

A distinctive feature is its two types of claws, each with a different shape. The claws at the front move tightly while flapping during swimming and on the fall, while the claws on the sides generate subtle vibrations. During pauses, the side claws fall first, followed by the front claws, creating a delayed action that triggers strikes. In addition, the four tentacles and two whiskers on the sides of the body each produce subtle vibrations. These appendages also help prevent the rig from spinning and the bait from tipping onto its side on the bottom. Paired with a compact jig, bottom jerks produce a dog-walking-style action from side to side. In addition to use as a rubber jig trailer, the Antlion is suitable for drop-shot, Carolina, split-shot, and light Texas rigs, and can be fished with techniques including falling, dragging, pausing, mid-strolling, and fast retrieves. It is available in Antlion 2.7-inch and 3.3-inch sizes.
