Evergreen Bank Shad

EVERGREEN’s Bank Shad is a suspending-capable shad plug developed to be a “steady-retrieve shad that produces results when you’re in a tough spot” on increasingly challenging waters. It is designed for slow retrieves, following two years of field testing to address the limitations of suspending models, which have difficulty grabbing water at ultra-slow speeds, and floating models, which tend to produce excessive body roll.

The 5.8 cm, 5.0 g body features an ultra-thin lip designed to be nearly the thinnest possible for its class, along with a slow-floating setup. The retrieve resistance and upward buoyant force work together to let the lure grab water even at ultra-slow speeds while producing a small, tight-pitch action. Its running depth is 1.0–1.5 m. In addition, an aerodynamic body design that takes air resistance into account and a tungsten weight-transfer system are used to improve casting distance and accuracy from a boat.

The basic presentation is a steady retrieve at a constant speed, intended for slow presentations in low-activity conditions and cold water. The recommended tackle is a 6 ft 0 in–7 ft 1 in ultralight to light spinning rod paired with 3–5 lb fluorocarbon line. An EG Wide Snap #0 is recommended for the line eye, while both the front and rear hook hangers are fitted with #1 sizes, with EG Treble Magic #10 treble hooks recommended for both the front and rear.
