Imakatsu Gekiasashad FD Guard+

IMAKATSU’s Gekiasa Shad FD GUARD+ is a cover-oriented spinner shad designed for targeting wood cover, standing timber, riprap, and other areas that are difficult to fish with a conventional shad, while maintaining the sharp action of the original Gekiasa Shad. Measuring 58mm and weighing 7.1g, it features a dead-slow floating design that makes it easy to retrieve through the shallow range characteristic of short-lip shads. An FD Guard is fitted to the front section to improve its ability to deflect when contacting cover.

The body retains the sharp action that defines the Gekiasa Shad and is equipped with a small blade. When the blade contacts the front hook, it produces a delicate metallic sound while also adding flash and water disturbance. Even around cover where a natural shad action alone may have difficulty attracting attention, the blade helps communicate the lure’s presence through visual flash, sound, and water displacement. It is primarily designed for a steady retrieve after casting, working it through shallow wood cover, standing timber, rock piles, and similar structure while making contact and taking advantage of the FD Guard’s deflection performance.
