Imakatsu MJ SHAD TAIL

IMAKATSU’s MJ SHAD TAIL is a 5-inch shad tail worm developed to be retrieved without added weight while maintaining contact with the bottom. To counter the tendency of shad tail worms to rise, it features a jointed design that separates the front and rear sections, preventing the tail action from being easily transmitted to the front body. In addition, the flat surface on the underside of the joint catches water, lifting the tail while lowering the head to help suppress the lure’s tendency to rise.

The tail is compact and thickly constructed, providing responsive action even on a dead-slow retrieve while producing a strong, tight kick. When slowly retrieved along the bottom, it creates a subtle, trembling vibration immediately after breaking free from contact with an object. For surface use, the running depth can be adjusted by increasing the retrieve speed. Designed primarily for weightless rigs, it is suited to slow, steady retrieves with the bottom in mind. Because the jointed construction allows the rear body to move independently, it also works well as a trailer for the 1/2 oz Rainbow Blade, making it easy to combine the worm’s tail action without significantly dampening the blade’s vibration.
