IMAKATSU’s Wakasagi “Magic” SPOON is a hybrid jigging spoon that combines the fast, precise bottom control of a metal jig with the tricky fluttering action of a big spoon. Its slim, sharply edged body features a distinctive curve, and the 12.5 cm, 40 g body (including the hook) is designed to target midwater schools of wakasagi while also enabling metal-jig-style bottom presentations.
When line tension is maintained, it makes a high-speed sliding fall and quickly reaches the bottom, making it easy to feel bottom contact clearly. From there, lifting it high with a short lift, then releasing tension for a free fall, causes it to slide in a zigzag pattern with a high-pitch roll, creating a panic action reminiscent of baitfish fleeing in confusion. On the bottom, a reaction presentation using short lifts and sliding falls targets fish through sudden movements, while in the midwater column, its long suspension time and fluttering action can be used to target suspended bass. The asymmetrical hammered mirror finish on the front and back produces irregular reflections reminiscent of baitfish scales, while also catching water to create an action with extended hang time. In addition to the standard orientation, reversing the lure front to back enables a consistent high-pitch rolling flutter fall and allows it to be worked straight down through pinpoint areas such as gaps between rocks.
