Imakatsu Mickey Head Jig

IMAKATSU’s MickyHeadJig is an unconventional football jig designed by Gentarō Ōyabu. It is engineered to avoid snagging on hard bottoms while maintaining a stable stand-up posture on the bottom. The three-point inverted head, which protrudes in an anti-wave-block shape, helps the jig maintain a posture with the head acting as a pivot on the bottom and also provides clear bottom contact. The head features a unique concave shape that pushes water strongly during swimming, creating an attention-grabbing presentation that stands on its head on the bottom even with a trailer attached.

The skirt’s quantity and texture were selected based on experience, while the jig is equipped with a brush guard featuring the amount and stiffness intended for hard bottoms such as rocks and bedrock. According to the manufacturer, its snag rate on hard bottoms has been reduced compared with the Goblin Head Jig. The hook features a wide gap and fluorocarbon coating, with consideration given to hook-setting performance during bottom fishing and swimming presentations with a trailer. Available weights are 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, and 5/8 oz; 3/8 oz uses bismuth, 1/2 oz uses resin tungsten, and 5/8 oz uses sintered tungsten. By selecting materials with different specific gravities for each weight, the jig is designed to keep the head size nearly the same while maintaining a three-point inverted posture at each weight. Pair it with a worm, pork trailer, or similar bait for bottom presentations such as lift-and-fall, dragging, and swimming.
